Gay Boiz :: Disco Banger
A couple months back, Dylan Khotin-Foote of Kumon Plaza mentioned a project where he and Kiss Kiss Fantastic’s Rachel Levy planned to record everything solely on cellular phones. I thought the idea sounded awfully interesting, but had completely forgotten about the project until now. Last night their mobile project, Gay Boiz, surfaced. Dylan laid down some fabulous beats and Rachel’s voice sounds amazing over them and under the unavoidable static. Despite this static and sounding a little tinny, the quality is surprisingly good for being recorded through a cellphone mic. “Disco Banger” is my favorite after two listens through their debut album, 429-2649, which is available for free download on their bandcamp.
