Premiere | Jaded Hipster Choir :: Cait Sith

In “Cait Sith,” the second cut from his upcoming Kodama EP, Jaded Hipster Choir frontman Thomas Michael has weaved an intricate orchestral web that dangles between organic and synthetic, creating a piece that although created electronically, could fill an empty theater. Gorgeous looping. It’s got Owen Pallett written all over it.

Kodama is available now on bandcamp and due out soon on Wonder Beard Tapes.

Premiere | Teen Daze and Jaded Hipster Choir :: Low Glow

Frequent contributors to TRGEO, Canadians Teen Daze and Jaded Hipster Choir have teamed up once more to bring us the effervescent “Low Glow.” It’ll be featured alongside tracks from acts like Guerre, Weed, Warm Waves, Pepepiano, Foxes in Fiction, and more on the upcoming Collaborations cassette that Dead As Digital, Stadiums and Shrines, and myself are releasing through the newly-formed tape label, We Get By. At 11 songs in length (track list here), it brings together some of the most promising DIY artists of late into one tiny, blue cassette with a limited 100 edition run. Pre-order it here, where you’ll get an early download of the release as well as an exclusive track from Ghost Animal and Rachel Levy. It’s due out digitally (for free) and physically Friday, October 1. Plus, check out Dead As Digital and Stadiums and Shrines, where two more tracks are available for download.

After over a month’s worth of preparation and interaction with some of today’s most generous and talented artists, I am proud to present you with The Road Goes Ever On’s first mix tape. Not only were these artists kind enough to correspond with me, they were willing to share unreleased material exclusively for this album - some even creating entirely new songs to premiere on the tape. With that said, I encourage you to not only take advantage of the wealth of free music they are all putting out on their bandcamp and SoundCloud pages, but also to give what you can to fuel their future work. While these acts may not sell out stadiums or top billboards charts, the songs on this tape, along with all the music they’ve released thus far, show that they possess the ability to carry us to unexpected heights. With that, I am humbled to present Small Summits.
01. Blackbird Blackbird - Kings
02. Persona La Ave - Beach 2 (Gobble Gobble's R. Kelly Magic Carpet)
03. Jaded Hipster Choir - Peach, Plum, Pear (Joanna Newsom cover)
04. Mickey Brown - Hammered
05. Hooray! - Slow Dancing
06. Mutual Benefit - The Dream
07. Cosmic Sound - Taste the Rain
08. Cold Weather, Cold Water - Metal Alligators
09. Persona La Ave - Dunes
10. Mickey Mickey Rourke - The Love Song
11. Teen Daze - Saviour

Also, a huge, huge, huge, thank you to Chris Sukovich for taking the time to design such wonderful album artwork. Please, take the time to check out his Flickr and stay posted for more from him.

Will Canada soon dominate the world’s music scene???

Are the canadian super rkrs GOBBLE GOBBLE, Teen Daze, Kumon Plaza, and Jaded Hipster Choir going to claim lordship over all lands like Saruman tried to do via his army of fighting Uruk-hai? I feel like this is imminent.

[EDIT] And these all belong in that list, don’t know why I didn’t include them:

MathemagicBlue Hawaii, Memoryhouse, and Neon Canyon.
