Where do you go after you’ve created an album as intricate and magical asFestive Bummer ? Ask Miller Rodriguez, the dreamweaver behind sleep-inducing project MICKEY MICKEY ROURKE, who released his second album on Sunday. MMR was his answer, and it is nothing short of G O R G E O U S. “BIGGIE” opens with a slightly noisy drum beat and a shrill yell, perhaps in attempt to wake you up a little before you are inevitably lulled into a daze or directly into dreams. “BUBBLES” comes along to carry on the magic, relaxing you to a point where you could almost miss the next two tracks, including shimmering highlight “CUTE CUB.” Then, ascension. A distant organ softly stutters in “DREAMCAST” and fades into the glittering beyond that is “G O R G E O U S,” entrancing you - transcendent - and solidifying Rodriguez’s second effort as absolute gold. And that’s only by the sixth track. For the rest of the adventure, click here or the photo to downloadMMR for free.
I don’t believe I’ve ever had such difficulty in deciding which song should be the main post, let alone the supplementary mp3s, so you ought to listen to all three. Also, I must stress that the only way to do this album justice is to listen to it in full. So, please download it and ”make sure you wear your headphones….please relax let time and distance disappear.”
