Co-Premiere | Campfires :: Chasing Planets

While the cold winds flush out all faces to dry, red portraits, the crackling of Chicago’s Campfires is a sight for frost-glazed eyes — the toasty jangle pop warming the hearts of anyone who stumbles upon its distant flickering. “Chasing Planets” is the first song to burst from the flames, which should be fully fledged in early 2011 when Jeff Walls releases his full-length album. Premiere | SPORTS :: Every World is a World of Your Own
Not long after releasing their debut single, Seattle’s SPORTS are back with “Every World is a World of Your Own,” a near six-minute long ride through their world. If everything the trio releases is this solid, we can expect quite the full-length, whenever that may be. For now, though, download both “Every World” and their debut single, “To Catch a Thief,” on their bandcamp. Plus, check them out today on Altered Zones.
Brothertiger :: Evening Glow

I doubt my morning would have been so bright if it weren’t for this excellent new cut from John Jagos, aka Brothertiger. He was kind enough to send it over yesterday, but I didn’t get to listen to it until about 1:14 this morning. Fortunately, “Evening Glow” was well worth the wait, and I think you’ll feel the same. Download it below, then head here to grab his Vision Tunnels EP.

Keep Shelly in Athens :: Running Out of You

The sometimes-Balearic Greek outfit Keep Shelly in Athens are set to release a 12” EP in late November/early December on the Gorilla vs. Bear/Weekly Tape Deck-run Forest Family Records. The aptly-titled In Love with Dusk EP features the above cut, “Running Out of You,” which premiered earlier today on Pitchfork. The 12” is limited to 500 copies on beige vinyl, which you can pre-order here.
Long Walks On The Beach :: metaPhysical

Here’s a fast-burner from sometimes soft, sometimes rough bedroom pop project, Long Walks On The Beach. Besides the two tracks below, the Washington, DC-based artist has more available on his bandcamp. [via]
Guards :: Swimming After Dark

“Swimming After Dark” is the latest track from Guards, the project of Richie Follin who happens to be the brother of Cults’ Madeline Follin. Though I wasn’t necessarily a huge fan of Guards’ debut EP, this one caught my attention immediately. I think it was the intensity of the first verse, the heavy snare hits, and the vibrating yell of the song’s title. It premiered yesterday on Yours Truly, who are curating a CMJ showcase featuring Guards this Friday at Glasslands. You can download their debut EP here and order their 12” when it drops on November 22 through 3 Syllable Records.
SPORTS :: To Catch a Thief

Last night, after finally finding some time to leaf through my inbox, I stumbled across a kind message from a little trio named SPORTS and their debut single, “To Catch a Thief.” They’re based out of Seattle, Washington, where the rainy days must be leaving them time to create some awfully enjoyable music. In terms of vocals, SPORTS sound confident and unique. There’s some resemblance to Wolf Parade/Sunset Rubdown vocalist Spencer Krug in both “To Catch a Thief” as well as in the latest version of “Prizefighter,” (below), but that’s certainly not a bad thing. As they claimed, their music is “best described as pop…but [they’re] mostly electronic,” which is true, but thankfully they don’t come close to over doing it with keyboards, synthesizers, and the like. They’ve got a refreshing, clean sound, not to mention some great artwork to boot.
There aren’t any full releases available yet, but you can stay up to date because SPORTS are everywhere: Myspace/Facebook/Bandcamp/Blogger.
