Houses :: This is War (Dustin Kensrue cover)

Houses just released a cover of Dustin Kensrue’s “This is War” on Alternative Apparel’s blog. Like Dexter said on their Facebook page, it “involves no synthesizers whatsoever,” and it’s quite elegant. Dexter also helped make the above video for the track. A holiday miracle from one of my favorite acts of the year.

Video | Jules and Jim :: Leaving Home/Going Home

I’m going home in a few weeks. It’s been a long vacation here doing work. I forgot as much as I learned, but maybe can find some contentment in finding the “origin” of something I discovered a year ago today.

Jules and Jim, the foundation of what we today call jj. There were three.

Three.

jj’s upcoming mixtape, Kills, is due out on Christmas Eve. No word if “No More You” will appear.

Video | Diamond Messages :: Liquid Summer

Diamond Messages is the solo work of Jason Craig, who recently revived the once-duet to release the four-song Smoke & Mirrors EP on Spontaneous Rhythm. “Liquid Summer” is a distant, twinkling white dwarf - its fuel long since exhausted, shining on as a brilliant diamond in the night sky. You can watch the video for the EP’s title track here, and purchase the Smoke & Mirrors EP here.  [via]

Video | World Tour :: Sparks (Demo)

I’ve always wanted to go on a World Tour, to venture through distant woods and valleys, and now with this spark lit, I feel like I just might go.

We would like to show you some pictures, a few notes and some visions. “Sparks” is a story about dreaming, defying death and fighting the darkness. About the belief of beginning something new and a reliance on your origin. A demo roughly carved out and carefully thought out.”

Iron and Wine :: Upward Over the Mountain (Live at Variety Playhouse)

I had the chance to see Iron and Wine last night. The whole show was too much of a jam session for me, but fortunately he played my favorite song alone, acoustically, and it was wonderful. Watch (most of) it above.
